Is Knuckle Cracking Good – See What Happens When You Crack Knuckles

Knuckle cracking is a common habit that anyone can get into. There was a group of scientists who conducted a study in the 70`s. The study involved monitoring of knuckle cracking under a radiography machine.

The results have showed that each time you crack a joint, you are expanding the volume of space between the bones. This leads to a creation of negative pressure which sucks the synovial fluid into the newly created space. This is what causes the popping noise.

A recent study conveyed by the University of Alberta involved cracking knuckles under MRI machine which was slowed down to capture images in slow-motion.

According to medical experts, the newly created space in between joints allows more synovial liquid to fill the cavity, which can increase the volume of the joints.

Cracking knuckles has been associated with arthritis but there is still no supported evidence for this.
