LOCAL FOOTBALL CLUB JOHOR DARUL TA’ZIM IS SET TO RECEIVE RM50 MILLION FROM ITS SULTAN, SULTAN IBRAHIM SULTAN ISKANDAR.
His Majesty, The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has decided to reward the Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) football team with RM50 million for their great season and performance in 2015.

After winning the Malaysia Super League (MSL), Charity Shield and even bagging the AFC Cup last year, Sultan Ibrahim made the decision to contribute RM50 Million to the crack-team of a squad as he is delighted how football has united Johorians and put the state’s name on the map, in the local and international football industry.
The news came following a posting by the club’s Facebook page, Johor Southern Tigers, yesterday, which told that the Sultan of Johor has agreed to contribute the said amount to the football club.
“In addition to Sultan Ibrahim’s thoughtfulness in the development of Johor, charity work, zakat and waqaf, as well as foundations he oversees, the Sultan of Johor has agreed to contribute RM50 million to Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club,” Johor Southern Tigers said on its Facebook page.

“Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the owner of JDT, is very pleased and most thankful to His Majesty for his contribution to JDT,” it added.

The owner of the football club, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ), son of Sultan Ibrahim, believed that the contribution came about after the realization that the football scene in Johor is one that will travel a long way and has become a glue that bonds the people of Johor.
Quoting from Utusan, TMJ said: “Although with this contribution, we still need to carefully spend our money for the future of this club in the long run because we are not as rich as other clubs who received sponsorship from millionaires in this country.”

“Our main priority is to develop our infrastructure and young talent as well as to make sure we have financial stability in the future. We need to learn from the mistakes that have been made by our rivals.”

“We already created history, so now it is up to us to continue improving ourselves. What we have achieved so far is only the beginning.”

JDT created history by becoming the first Southeast Asian club to lift the AFC Cup when they overcame Tajikistan champions FC Istiklol in a gritty 1-0 win at the opponent’s home ground in October.

The team also dominated the 2015 National Football Awards (ABK) last month, bagging eight out of the 17 awards presented, including the Most Valuable Player award, best midfielder, best goalkeeper, best striker, best defender, best foreign player and best coach awards.
