Police: Santoso Terror Group's HQ Located in Poso

Jakarta. Indonesian police and military forces in a joint operation have found the headquarters of the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) in a mountainous part Central Sulawesi's Poso district, the National Police chief said on Monday.

The security forces, working together under operation Cameo Maleo 3, found shacks and equipment allegedly used by the terror group led by Santoso.

"We have found their location. There are 10 shacks in the mountain," Gen. Badrodin Haiti said at the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

Though the group managed to escape, some explosives, five ready-to-use bombs and cooking utensils were found at the site, besides the decomposing remains of an unknown man.

Badrodin said that security forces, with the help of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), would continue to chase the MIT, which has pledged loyalty to the Islamic State movement.

Security forces have for years been unable to find the 40 or so members of the terror group, who are constantly on the move.

"They know the field very well because it's their own territory, but we will keep hunting party," said Badrodin.

Police officials recently announced a string of arrests of people planning a bombing campaign over the coming holiday season.
